Job Summary:
This position is within the Department of Surgery. Responsibilities include scheduling OR cases for Vascular Surgery at UH, Community Campus, and Crouse along with obtaining chart prep for external clinics. This individual will also help answer phones and relay messages via outlook and EPIC as well as checking in•and out-patients. Other duties as assigned.
Duties:
Coordinating OR Surgical Cases for Vascular Surgery Division Chief and Surgeons Schedules into EPIC any procedures which will occur at University Hospital. Coordinates required Pre-Admission Testing and Anesthesia linked appointments Work in conjunction with Vascular Authorizations, and Vascular MOA to ensure accurate authorizations are completed Maintain communication with the Business Office in supplying authorization information for surgical cases upon request Scheduling outpatient procedures, such as: CT, X-rays Responsible for chart preparation in EMR system. Reviews the patient orders and makes sure that all pertinent information is available for the provider prior to patient's surgery. (e.g. requests missing test results or clearance notes are sent to our office prior to surgery) Assists with scheduling follow up appointments in the outpatient practice as requested by the procedure practice Answering clinic phone calls, taking accurate messages, and transferring calls to appropriate staff Provide back up for Vascular/Vascular Lab at CNY with patient check-in and check-out Provide back up for
Vascular Authorizations Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree or pertinent college level courses and four years of administrative/office management experience including supervisory experience. Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a medical office environment and knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, EPIC and Medical terminology preferred. HIPAA, authorizations and referrals processing is beneficial.
