Summary:
Responsible for scheduling all inpatient and outpatient surgery and medical procedures, tests and studies ordered by the physician. Provides support and communicates necessary information to patients and physicians regarding status of procedure including authorization and scheduling.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.
Formal Education Required:
a. High school education or equivalent; Post-high school level coursework in healthcare or related field preferred. 2.
Experience and Training Required:
a. Computer experience - proficient in MS Word - MS Excel, MS Power Point preferred. b. Two (2) or more years' experience in medical office or clinical setting. c. Knowledge of medical terminology. 3.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Must maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, or financial records. b. Skill in interpersonal communication to effectively interact in person and over the telephone with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel. c. Skill in alphabetical/numerical filing. d. Microcomputer proficiency including at least MS Word; and willingness and ability to acquire such skill to operate application packages used by department (e.g., to enter and retrieve data, register and schedule patients, enter charges, and/or type routine correspondence). e. Ability to perform in a work team environment. f. Ability to effectively interact with all populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. g. Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the customer service policy. h. Consistently demonstrates excellence in attendance, timeliness, and reliability. 4.
