Job Description

Full Time (40 hours per week) M-F 7:30am to 4:00pm Onsite for
The Heart Center Summary:
The Surgery Scheduler coordinates process to schedule surgical and other procedures in operating room, physician office, sedation, and other hospital units.
Responsibilities:
1. Coordinates process to schedule surgical and other procedures in operating room, physician office, sedation, and other hospital units. 2. Manages physician schedules to support efficient practice operations. 3. Communicates effectively via personal contact, phone and in writing with patients/ families, physicians, hospital staff, community professionals, insurance companies, etc. 4. Efficiently and accurately uses computer for generation of reports, letters, forms and other communications/documents. 5. Provides administrative support for clinic and educational activities of physicians, nurses or other support staff as directed. 6. Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise 1. Experience in surgery scheduling is preferred. 2. Experience with and knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9 terminology is preferred. 3. Must be detailed oriented with the ability to make decisions and work in a fast-paced environment. 4. Experience working with various levels within an organization is required. 5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be compassionate towards families experiencing stressful conditions. 6. Experience in healthcare is preferred. 7. Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required. 8. Experience working in an electronic medical record system (i.e. EPIC) is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a clinical/medical environment is preferred. 4.
