Description Position Summary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with charge capture and entry, scheduling of surgical cases data collecting and support of Surgical Services operational needs. Performs clerical and receptionist duties. Position Accountabilities Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Consistently follows established protocols and procedures. Schedules surgery cases, prepares daily surgery schedule. Change posted schedules at once before noon and once in the afternoon.

Dailey schedule:

arrange print 2 times for surgery, send/fax to other departments and faxed to each posting physician. Coordinates other procedures coinciding with scheduled surgery procedures. Prepares charts, photocopies information, files information, (Daily charges: collects nurse notes & charge sheets, sorts, separates. Posts charges to patient account). Answers a multitude of telephone calls, takes messages, and directs calls. Communications and works collaboratively with physician offices and other disciplines. Assists in coding for current and new procedures and verifies appropriate codes align with procedure charges Assists in reviewing medical necessity for scheduled procedures Assists in organizing and systemizing Physician Preferences Sheets and associated charges to allow for quicker and more accurate Procedure Cost Analysis. Assists with Central Sterile Tech or Surgical Tech duties if needed, related to previous experience and skills. Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data, Prepares and maintains records of patient charges. Verifies charges posted. Maintains, files and scans implant documentation for tracking and charging purposes. Collects monthly data for submission to Infection Control Officer for mandatory reporting. Calls patients to confirm Pre-Admission Testing appointment. Requisitions supplies, equipment, maintenance and repair services, and prepares related forms. Keeps stock and equipment inventories. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. Verifies all log entries (in 2 log books) for statistical purposes. Consults with and advises unit supervisors/head nurses on unit management. Types monthly call schedule and posts. Responsible for getting supplies from Materials Management and Pharmacy as needed. Helps turn over rooms, assists with: patient transport, staffing assignments and scheduling board. Makes Packets (e.g. general, anesthesia, etc.) Responsible for payroll stats (for Surgical Services and Cardiovascular Lab). Monthly stats for Surgical Services only and Cardiac Report for accounting. Follows policies and procedure regarding attendance and work hours in order to meet the needs of the hospital. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Requirements Minimum Education

  • High School or equivalent Minimum Experience
  • Previous directly related training and experience Preferred Education
  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training Preferred Experience
  • Previous physician office or clerical experience Preferred Field of Expertise
