Duties Schedule surgical procedures for orthopedic joint replacement patients in accordance with surgeon availability and hospital protocols. Review and verify patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness for surgical planning. Coordinate pre-operative assessments, patient education, and follow-up appointments to optimize surgical outcomes. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks to document scheduling details and update patient information securely. Collaborate with clinical staff to prepare care plans, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and documentation review standards. Manage insurance authorizations and verify health insurance coverage using systems like Athenahealth or other EHR platforms. Maintain proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare requirements to facilitate accurate billing and documentation. Provide excellent patient service by addressing scheduling inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism and compassion. Support front desk operations by managing appointment calendars, filing medical records, and performing clerical tasks such as typing and data entry. Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical information with discretion. Requirements Valid LPN license with current state licensure; prior clinic or medical office experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and healthcare documentation standards. Experience in medical billing, insurance verification, and health information management is highly desirable. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential. Exceptional customer service skills with a professional phone etiquette for patient interactions. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance at all times. Previous experience working in a surgical or orthopedic clinic setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
