Job Summary:
Responsible for the accurate, timely, and safe loading and transportation of live poultry from farms to processing plants. This role prioritizes animal welfare and biological timelines to ensure birds arrive in optimal condition.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Scheduling & Planning:
Create and adjust daily and weekly live haul schedules to align farm production with plant processing capacities.
Dispatch Coordination:
Communicate directly with drivers, catch crews, service technicians, growers, and customers to ensure that product requirements, precise pickup times, and delivery windows are being met.
Oversight and Review:
Monitor external catch crews during the loading process to ensure accuracy of loadout and animal welfare and biosecurity practices are being followed.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all movements adhere to all applicable regulations and strict animal welfare standards.
Performance Tracking:
Record and report on performance metrics, including delays, incidents, mileage, and service history.
Support Data Collection:
Ensure proper movement documentation if left on the farm and reported to applicable departments.
Fleet Management:
Work with maintenance team to ensure vehicle maintenance schedules are being followed and repairs are reported in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime. Collaborate with internal departments, including safety and planning. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Capability to handle real-time disruptions such as weather, traffic, or mechanical breakdowns. . Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Self-motivation with the ability to prioritize are essential.
- Effectively managing high-stakes, time-sensitive schedules where delays can impact animal health.
- Proficiency in scheduling tools, fleet tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
- Must have a Class C license and a good driving record.
- Having a CDL Class A license is considered an asset.
Education and Experience:
- . High school diploma or GED is required; an associate's degree in Logistics, Business, or an agricultural field is preferred.

3-5 years' experience in "live haul" experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Work Environment:
Hours often involve unconventional shifts, including early mornings, nights, or weekends, to match harvest and processing schedules, primary shift is 3 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. A mix of office-based planning and weekly site visits to farms during loadout.
