High-Volume Healthcare Call Center, Patient Scheduling, or Patient Access Overview We are seeking a Patient Access Representative to join a fast-paced healthcare team supporting patients through the scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and referral process. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in a high-volume call center environment and are passionate about providing exceptional patient service while ensuring accurate scheduling and registration. Required Qualifications Experience handling 65-80+ inbound and outbound calls per day in a high-volume call center, patient access, scheduling, or healthcare customer service environment. Patient scheduling, registration, or medical office experience. Insurance verification and referral processing experience. Familiarity with medical billing practices and patient financial responsibility discussions. Experience utilizing electronic medical records and scheduling systems (Epic preferred). Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities Schedule patient appointments through inbound and outbound phone calls, email communications, and referral requests. Register patients and accurately collect demographic, insurance, and referral information. Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations, referrals, and supporting documentation. Assist patients with insurance-related questions, billing concerns, financial assistance options, and payment responsibilities. Coordinate urgent scheduling requests and referrals with physicians, providers, and clinical staff. Process and manage internal and external physician referrals. Maintain accurate scheduling records and ensure appointment information is up to date. Contact patients regarding appointment reminders, insurance requirements, and scheduling updates. Support patient outreach efforts, rescheduling initiatives, and follow-up appointment coordination. Monitor patient reminder systems and make scheduling adjustments as needed. Implement provider schedule edits and template modifications based on physician direction. Resolve moderately complex scheduling, registration, insurance, and billing issues while maintaining a high level of customer service. Collaborate closely with team members to ensure efficient patient access and continuity of care. Preferred Experience Epic or comparable EMR system experience. Patient Access Representative experience. Healthcare call center experience. Medical scheduling and patient registration. Insurance verification and authorizations. Billing and collections support. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
