Job Description

Job Overview Oakland Surgi Center is looking for an Intake and Scheduling Specialist to be a part of an exceptional team and to help us continue to grow into a best-in-class outpatient surgical center. Because we are a physician-owned ASC and not affiliated with a hospital, we are able to offer perks not available in a hospital setting. We're open Monday through Friday; no weekends, overnights or holidays . We have the opportunity to get to know our patients personally and take a leading role in their care. We have a loyal, dedicated clinical and administrative team who have worked together for years to provide the highest levels of patient care and safety. Oakland Surgi Center also holds Joint Commission accreditation and is fully certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and licensed by the State of Michigan. The right candidate for this role will be able to work well with a team, be detail oriented, and have a dedication to ensuring every patient has a high-quality and safe visit. This role requires good communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This is a hybrid position that requires on-site training upon hire. After training is complete, tasks can be completed from home. Occasional on-site visits are required as needed. Duties Verifying prior authorization for procedures in an ambulatory surgical setting. Contacting patients to schedule outpatient surgical procedures. Obtaining medical clearances prior to procedures as necessary. Assist with tasks such as data entry and insurance verification. Estimating patient responsibility amounts based on insurance coverage. Communicating with patients regarding preoperative instructions and arrival time. Minimum Requirements Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Willingness to work with a team. Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite. Detail-oriented with strong clerical skills to manage documentation accurately. High school diploma or GED. Ability to pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the ambulatory surgical setting. Prior knowledge of health insurance coverage; including verification of benefits, determining copay amounts, and calculating patient responsibility amounts based on deductible and coinsurance.
