Job Description
Simple Lyfe Stays manages 44 short-term rental homes across West Michigan, from lakeside cabins to family lodges. We're a small, real team, not a call center. Our whole idea is bringing people back to the basics: a clean, well-run home in a beautiful place, handled by people who actually care whether it goes right.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
We're looking for one organized, dependable person to work directly with the owner and keep the business's loose ends from becoming problems. This is not a "check my calendar" job. The best version of this person is someone who sees an unpaid refund from three weeks ago, tracks down who owns it, and closes it out without being asked twice. We have a lot of moving pieces across 44 homes, and things fall through cracks. Your job is to make sure they stop.WHAT YOU'D BE DOING, FROM DAY ONE
- Chasing open items to closure: refunds, charges, vendor invoices, owner questions, so nothing sits for weeks
- Keeping our systems accurate, entering and updating property, booking, and maintenance records in Notion and OwnerRez
- Coordinating with vendors, cleaners, and our field maintenance team on scheduling and follow-up
- Handling owner correspondence and follow-up
- Pulling together weekly reporting so the owner can see the state of the business in one place
- General business admin: calendar, documents, filing, whatever keeps the week from getting away from us
ADDED AFTER ABOUT THREE WEEKS, ONCE YOU KNOW THE PROPERTIES
- Responding to guest messages, questions, requests, small problems, in our voice
- Screening and approving booking requests against our standards
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You close loops. If something's unresolved, it stays on your list until it isn't.
- You write well. Guests and owners will read what you send, and it should sound like a helpful local friend, not a support ticket.
- You're comfortable learning software. We run on Notion, OwnerRez, Google Workspace, and Slack. You don't need to know them, you need to be someone who picks them up.
- You use good judgment and you ask when you don't have it. We would much rather you flag something than guess.
- You're discreet. You'll have access to owner and guest information and we take that seriously.
- Prior experience in property management, hospitality, bookkeeping, or office management is a real plus but not required.
THE DETAILS
- Contract role. You'd work as an independent contractor (1099), invoicing for hours worked. You're free to keep other clients.
- $22-26 per hour, depending on experience.
- About 25-30 hours per week, with room to grow if it's working for both of us.
- You set your own hours within a weekday coverage window we'll agree on, so guests and owners aren't waiting.
- Mostly remote. You'll need to be within reasonable driving distance of the Big Rapids / Newaygo / Muskegon area for occasional in-person time, meeting the team, seeing properties, getting set up.
- You'll use your own computer and phone.
- A background check is required before we schedule an interview.
