Job Description

Rebuilding Together Pitt County ("RTPC") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and safety improvements at no cost to qualifying homeowners in Pitt and Greene Counties, NC. The Program & Operations Coordinator is the person who makes sure our homeowners feel supported and our paperwork doesn't develop its own repair needs. This is a part-time, people-centered role working closely alongside the Executive Director across two clear lanes: helping homeowners navigate the repair process from application to completion, and keeping the data and documentation that backs our work accurate and current. We're looking for someone who is people-centered and detail-oriented , equally at home in a spreadsheet and a neighbor's living room, and motivated by work that makes a tangible difference.
RESPONSIBILITIES.
Program & Homeowner Support. Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners through application intake, eligibility review, and the full repair process Collect, verify, and organize homeowner documentation Conduct home visits alongside the Executive Director to document repair needs and support prioritization Communicate clearly and compassionately with homeowners regarding status, timelines, and next steps Coordinate scheduling of home assessments, contractor visits, and inspections Support project closeout including homeowner agreements and post-repair follow-up Data, Reporting & Administrative Support. Maintain accurate homeowner, project, and program records using internal database Track program outcomes and collect data for funder reporting and grant compliance Assist with documentation for reimbursements, audits, and reporting deadlines Identify gaps in records or processes and flag proactively to the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS.
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; lived experience considered 2-3 years in nonprofit program coordination, social services, community health, housing navigation, or similar Strong organizational skills and reliable follow-through Warm, clear communication skills across diverse audiences Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local travel
Preferred:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field Experience in a small nonprofit or growth-stage organization Familiarity with housing, home repair, or community development Experience with Salesforce or similar platforms
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS.
This role requires the ability to conduct home visits in varied conditions, including: Walking through properties with uneven terrain, limited lighting, or restricted access Bending, stooping, and kneeling to observe and document repair needs Occasionally accessing crawl spaces, attics, or tight areas for assessment purposes Lifting and carrying materials or equipment up to 25 pounds Standing or walking for extended periods during site visits Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
GROWTH PATH.
This role is designed to expand in hours, scope, and compensation as RTPC grows. The right candidate will grow into volunteer coordination, independent home assessments, and broader operational responsibilities over time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT.
Part-time, 20-30 hours per week Flexible schedule set in coordination with the Executive Director Primarily in-person and field-based; some remote administrative work available Occasional evenings or weekends may be required. Our office is dog-friendly — a love of dogs is not required, but it helps.
