Senior Operations Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Air Freight Operations Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day coordination of air freight shipments from origin through final delivery. This position will serve as a key point of contact between customers, carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, warehouses, and internal teams to ensure shipments move efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. The Senior Air Freight Operations Coordinator will take ownership of complex shipments and provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.

Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and manage international air freight shipments from booking through final deliveryArrange airline bookings, pickups, deliveries, warehouse transfers, and other transportation requirementsCommunicate with customers, airlines, freight forwarders, overseas agents, customs brokers, and other service providersPrepare, review, and maintain shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, air waybills, packing lists, and export documentationMonitor shipment status and proactively communicate delays, changes, or potential issues to customers and internal stakeholdersTrack shipments throughout the transportation process and ensure milestones are metCoordinate with customs brokers and ensure shipments have the appropriate documentation for customs clearanceReview shipment details for accuracy, including weights, dimensions, pieces, routing, rates, and required documentationResolve operational issues, including delays, missed connections, documentation discrepancies, damaged freight, and delivery exceptionsObtain and negotiate freight rates and coordinate with carriers and service providers as neededEnter and maintain accurate shipment information within internal transportation or freight management systemsReview and approve operational documentation, invoices, and freight charges for accuracyCoordinate with warehouse personnel regarding cargo receipt, handling, staging, and releaseEnsure shipments are handled in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable regulationsMaintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, carriers, and international partnersAssist with identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service levels, and cost controlProvide support, guidance, and training to junior operations staffAssist management with reporting, shipment analysis, and other operational projects as needed

Qualifications5+ years of experience in air freight, international logistics, freight forwarding, or a related fieldStrong understanding of international air freight operations and transportation processesExperience coordinating international shipments from booking through deliveryKnowledge of air waybills, export documentation, customs processes, and international shipping requirementsStrong communication and customer service skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneouslyStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and ExcelExperience with transportation management, freight forwarding, or logistics software preferredAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience working with international airlines and freight forwarding networksKnowledge of IATA regulations and international air cargo requirementsExperience with import/export complianceExperience handling time-sensitive, high-value, or specialized cargoPrevious experience mentoring or training operations personnelStrong knowledge of international trade terminology and shipping documentationKey CompetenciesAir Freight OperationsInternational LogisticsShipment CoordinationCustomer ServiceDocumentation & ComplianceCarrier ManagementProblem SolvingCommunicationOrganization & Time ManagementAttention to DetailVendor & Customer Relations...Visit the Employer site for more details
