The purpose of the role:
The Production Scheduler is expected to review multiple courses of action to achieve the desired production goals and select the production path that best meets the customer and business needs within the framework of repetitive, discrete and make-to-order manufacturing environments. In doing so, the Production Scheduler is expected to review both internal and external as well as outsourced means of meeting production targets. Communication of production requirements, selected scheduling options and production constraints to Plant Management is required at all times.Requirements:
Dispatches planned orders for products produced within the repetitive/discrete manufacturing process to fulfill the master production plan and customer requirements. Maintains inventory levels of semi-finished product. Maintains master data fields in SAP to correctly reflect the semi-finished inventory strategies by SKU. Creates production schedules that accurately reflect the established inventory strategies throughout the year. Identifies and communicates capacity constraints for resolution. Prioritizes scheduled products based on customer requirements. Interfaces with production supervisors and establishes their manufacturing priorities. Reschedules planned orders based on material availability. Interfaces with purchasing to resolve material availability issues. Coordinates equipment maintenance schedules with production schedules. Reviews and reschedules open planned orders for attainment until closure or deletion. Revises production schedules, as necessary. Any other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications & Other Competencies 3+ years of inventory and production control experience. Knowledge of MRPII-type and Lean systems. APICS certification is desired. Associates degree preferred. Understanding of SAP scheduling and inventory modules required. Understanding of how to translate SAP generated scheduling requirements to usable shop floor schedules. Ability to understand bills-of-materials (BOMs), routings, material masters and how they may impact finite schedules. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles as applied to Kanbans, production sequences, and scheduling methods. Ability to communicate and interact with production floor. MS Office capability - heavy emphasis on Excel and Word. Self-managed and motivated. Excellent problem-solving skills that assist in driving to root cause. Ability to independently make decisions in a fast-paced high-pressure/stressful environment.Job Type:
