Production Planner/Scheduler Job Summary Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to ensure efficient manufacturing of metal fabricated and stamped parts while meeting customer delivery requirements. You will optimize resource utilization (including presses, lasers, brakes, welders, and assembly lines), manage material flow, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support on-time delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supplying metal parts to industries such as automotive, appliance, or industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory levels, and plant capacity for stamping, fabrication, welding, and assembly operations. Release and manage work orders to the shop floor, prioritizing jobs to maximize equipment utilization (e.g., stamping presses, lasers) and minimize downtime. Monitor production progress daily, identify bottlenecks or delays (e.g., material shortages, machine breakdowns), and adjust schedules accordingly to ensure on-time delivery. Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely availability of raw materials (sheet metal, coils, etc.) and expedite suppliers when necessary. Collaborate with production supervisors, quality assurance, engineering, and sales teams to resolve issues impacting the schedule, such as engineering changes or quality holds. Analyze capacity constraints, lead times, and workload to balance production efficiency with customer demands. Track and report key metrics, including on-time delivery, inventory levels, work-in-progress (WIP), and schedule adherence. Support inventory management, including finished goods and raw materials, to minimize excess stock while avoiding shortages. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., lean manufacturing) to optimize workflows and reduce cycle times in metal fabrication processes. Communicate schedule changes and impacts to relevant stakeholders, including customers if needed. Experience with MS Office, word (advanced proficiency with Excel) Qualifications and Requirements 3+ years of experience in production planning/scheduling within a manufacturing environment, ideally in metal fabrication, stamping , sheet metal processing, or automotive/industrial parts supply. High school or equivalent diploma Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes (e.g., stamping, laser cutting, bending, welding) and MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, JobBOSS, or similar). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) for scheduling, reporting, and data analysis. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills to interface with production teams, suppliers, and management. Experience with lean manufacturing principles, capacity planning, and inventory control is a plus. Completing other assignments as directed by executive management Skills and Competencies Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in scheduling and forecasting. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing demands. Team player with a proactive approach to resolving production issues. Understanding of quality standards and safety protocols in a metal manufacturing setting. Availability to work as needed and including weekends as required.
