Job Description
Midwest Fab & Construction, Inc. is looking for an experienced Planner / Scheduler / Estimator to join our team in Amarillo, TX. We are an established industrial fabrication and construction company serving the food processing, dairy, beef processing, ethanol, and industrial construction industries throughout Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and surrounding areas. This position is responsible for helping plan and estimate upcoming projects, schedule field crews and resources, track job progress, and communicate with customers, employees, subcontractors, and vendors. Responsibilities Review project drawings, scopes of work, specifications, and customer requirements Prepare estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs Develop project schedules and coordinate manpower Schedule welders, fabricators, helpers, equipment, and subcontractors Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously Track job progress and compare actual labor/material usage against estimates Communicate with project managers, foremen, customers, vendors, and subcontractors Assist with purchasing and material planning Identify potential scheduling, manpower, or material issues before they affect the project Help determine labor requirements and projected hours for upcoming work Review completed work and assist with job costing Maintain project schedules and update them as work progresses Assist management with project planning and workload forecasting Prepare and maintain estimates, schedules, work orders, and other project documentation Occasional travel may be required to visit job sites What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial construction, fabrication, welding, mechanical construction, or a related field . We are looking for someone who can look at a project and answer: "What do we need, how many people do we need, how long will it take, what will it cost, and how do we get it done?" Strong candidates should have: Experience estimating construction or fabrication projects Experience scheduling employees and/or subcontractors Ability to read and understand construction/fabrication drawings Strong understanding of labor hours and productivity Good knowledge of materials and construction processes Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Strong computer skills Ability to work independently and make decisions Attention to detail Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus: Welding/fabrication Stainless steel fabrication Food processing facilities Dairy plants Beef processing facilities Ethanol plants Industrial construction Mechanical construction Conveyors and material handling Structural steel Pipe fabrication Project scheduling software Estimating software QuickBooks or similar accounting/job-costing software Experience in the welding or industrial fabrication industry is highly preferred. Compensation $85,000 - $100,000+ per year , depending on experience and qualifications. Experienced candidates with strong estimating and project-planning skills may qualify for compensation above the posted range.
