Primarily responsible for providing frontline IT Operations support through Level 1 ticket resolution, employee workstation setup and breakdown, onboarding/offboarding equipment support, hardware and software troubleshooting, and accurate asset tracking/management.General purpose:
This position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day IT operations, including responding to Level 1 support tickets, preparing and recovering user equipment, maintaining asset inventory records, troubleshooting common hardware/software issues, supporting approved account/access tasks, and documenting work in the ticketing and knowledge base systems.Position responsibilities:
Provide Level 1 technical support for employee hardware, software, peripherals, printers, network, and approved business applications. Receive, document, prioritize, troubleshoot, and resolve basic IT tickets. Set up, configure, label, test, deploy, break down, recover, and stage workstations, laptops, monitors, docks, phones/headsets, printers, and approved peripherals. Support employee onboarding by preparing assigned devices, completing approved setup steps, and confirming Day-1 readiness. Support employee offboarding by recovering equipment, documenting returns, completing assigned access-removal steps, and staging devices for secure wipe, storage, repair, redeployment, or disposition. Maintain accurate IT asset records, including asset tag, serial number, assigned user, location, condition, status, and lifecycle stage. Perform asset tagging, inventory updates, checkout/return tracking, storage organization, periodic physical audits, and discrepancy reporting. Assist in troubleshooting basic hardware, software, network, printer, using approved tools, SOPs, and escalation paths. Perform basic hardware support, cable management and replacements, peripheral swaps, equipment testing, and repair documentation when assigned. Maintain spare equipment and parts records; identify low-stock items, damaged equipment, aging assets, and reuse opportunities before new purchases. Help maintain IT documentation, including setup checklists, troubleshooting guides, asset-management procedures, ticket notes, and internal process documentation. Provide support during software/hardware setup, updates, employee training, and security best-practice reinforcement. Promote a culture of security awareness and promptly report suspected security incidents, missing equipment, unauthorized access, or policy exceptions. Participate in IT stand-ups and provide concise updates on completed work, blockers, inventory concerns, recurring issues, and next priorities. Maintains reliable attendance, fulfills job responsibilities, and meets individual and departmental KPI expectations. Demonstrates flexibility with work hours, schedules, and assigned duties when reasonably necessary to meet business needs, operational requirements, special events, staffing needs, or changes in workload. When business needs require, may be asked to adjust start times, end times, lunch schedules, or work assignments with reasonable notice whenever practicable. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Essential skills and experience:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field/experience. Basic understanding of operating systems, especially Windows and macOS. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications. General knowledge of hardware, including PCs, laptops, monitors, docks, printers, headsets, cables, and peripherals. Basic understanding of networking concepts, printers, connectivity, and common endpoint troubleshooting. Basic understanding of VOIP, PBX, SIP, or RingCentral-style telephony platforms is a plus. Accurate data entry skills with strong attention to detail, especially for asset tags, serial numbers, user assignments, locations, and equipment status. Experience using spreadsheets, ticketing systems, or asset inventory tools for data collection and organization. Ability to clearly communicate issues, next steps, and resolutions to technical and non-technical team members. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to manage time effectively, prioritize support requests, and follow escalation procedures. Ability to document daily activity, ticket notes, inventory changes, and completed work in a concise and accurate manner. Able to work well in a team environment and assist where necessary.
