Experienced Surgical Scheduler Dominion Plastic Surgery Join Our Growing Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Practice Dominion Plastic Surgery is seeking an experienced, highly organizedSurgical Scheduler to join our busy reconstructive plastic surgery practice. The ideal candidate has prior surgical scheduling experience, is knowledgeable in insurance authorizations and medical coding, and thrives in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This individual will play a critical role in coordinating surgical procedures across multiple hospitals and our physician-owned ambulatory surgery center while ensuring a seamless experience for both patients and providers. Position Type Full-Time Monday-Friday Competitive pay based on experience Benefits available Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures at multiple hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers Obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications for surgical procedures Verify insurance benefits and determine authorization requirements Communicate with insurance companies regarding medical necessity and authorization status Coordinate surgery dates with physicians, hospitals, anesthesia providers, assistants, and patients Schedule pre-operative and post-operative appointments Ensure all required documentation is completed prior to surgery Review operative scheduling requests for completeness and accuracy Assist with ICD-10 and CPT coding review to support authorization submissions Prepare surgery packets and communicate pre-operative instructions to patients Coordinate implant, equipment, and vendor needs when applicable Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record Communicate professionally with physicians, hospitals, referring providers, case managers, and patients Assist with Workers' Compensation and commercial insurance cases as needed Support front office and clinical operations as necessary Willingness to be responsive to providers, if urgent, off business hours Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of surgical scheduling experience in a medical practice, hospital, or ambulatory surgery center Experience obtaining surgical insurance authorizations and pre-certifications Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding Understanding of commercial insurance plans, Workers' Compensation, and government payers Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual a plus!) High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to prioritize multiple cases simultaneously Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office Preferred Plastic Surgery, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, or other surgical specialty experience Experience with eClinicalWorks and EPIC Knowledge of reconstructive surgery procedures Familiarity with out-of-network billing and prior authorization processes Experience coordinating complex reconstructive or trauma cases What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Proactive and able to work independently Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented Calm under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment A strong communicator with excellent customer service skills A collaborative team player who is willing to assist wherever needed Committed to providing an exceptional patient experience Why Join Dominion Plastic Surgery?
