Job Description

The Seasonal Events and Operations Assistant will contribute to the implementation and execution of special events including setup, event operations, and tear down. Responsibilities will include coordinating volunteers, preparing facilities, setting up/removing equipment, and providing an exceptional customer-service oriented approach when interacting with the public. This role is essential in creating a positive recreational experience in the community at events like SB Nite Out, Recreation On The Go, Community Movie Nights, Park Hop Brews, etc. Ensure all attendees have the best possible experience at South Burlington Recreation Department events. Assist in the planning and execution of events from event set-up to breakdown. Resolve any guest concerns and special requests. Assist within different areas of special events as needed (food, parking, operations, check-in/registration, overseeing event stations, etc.). Promote South Burlington Recreation and Parks values through interactions with guests and fellow team members. Maintain appearance and cleanliness of all work areas and surrounding public spaces, including equipment. Collect water sample tests to assist in monitoring the water of the South Burlington beaches for Blue-Green Algae. Assess trails for safety and trash removal. One year of customer service experience required. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends. Hours based on event needs. Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience working in programming or special events is preferred. Enthusiasm, patience and proactiveness. Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
