Job Description

We are a General Surgery office with 3 providers and a Plastic Surgeon office with 1 provider that you would be responsible for scheduling of Outpatient and Inpatient surgeries at 3 local medical facilities.
Essential responsibilities:
Schedule office and hospital based medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location, utilizing appropriate scheduling procedures. Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain authorization for surgical procedures. Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations and any other directional information needed. Takes appropriate action in responding to patient questions. Send outgoing referrals to providers offices and sending imaging and lab orders. Perform a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to the following: answer phones; fax and file medical documents. Provide excellent customer service Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management. Ability to develop good relations with outside facilities. Overlooking providers office schedule. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have at least 2 years of medical office experience. Previous surgery scheduling experience. Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English. Strong knowledge of clinical / medical practice operations, procedures, and terminology.
