Job Description

Base salary starts at $22.27/hr .
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Answers telephones, routes calls, takes messages and provides general information; greets and directs visitors; answers routine inquiries; maintains log of inquiries as required. Performs a variety of routine typing assignments as appropriate to the position including medical transcription, operates a computer to draft correspondence, enter data and print letters, labels, reports and/or other materials; types and mails correspondence. May perform specialized services of a routine clerical/administrative nature in strict accordance with established procedural guidelines, as appropriate to the position. Schedules patients and physicians for office visits, radiation treatment, chemotherapy infusion treatment and nurse practitioner follow ups. Coordinates with health care team to provide patient care, treatment and services. Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. When scheduling patient appointment, carefully screens patients for new address, new patient visit or update registration. Inputs information into scheduling system. Performs day-to-day scheduling functions and general office duties including but not limited to word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones and data entry. Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in a private physician's office or group practice preferred. Previous experience as a receptionist and/or scheduler for a medical office is preferred.CREDENTIALS
Must have current BLS or obtain within 60 days of hire and must maintain BLS throughout employment withIMH. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficient in the operation of basic office equipment including phone system, fax machine, copy machine, computer, etc. Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone. Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing. Demonstrate effective listening skills. Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively. Possess exceptional problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively without immediate supervision. Ability to learn new computer software programs. Ability to recognize and protect confidential information.
