Job Description
Job Overview The role of the Warehouse Receiving Lead is to proactively plan, execute, and oversee all receiving and transfer operations of the Receiving Department in conjunction with the warehouse management team. The Receiving Lead will coach the Receiving Associates to safely and efficiently load outgoing merchandise onto trailers and containers and unload incoming merchandise from our vendors and other AFW facilities. The Receiving Lead will coach the Receiving Associates to practice team lifting, utilize hand trucks, and ensure all merchandise is tagged and inventoried correctly. The Receiving Lead will also coordinate and work effectively with multiple departments to continuously improve processes, maximize efficiency and exceed customer service expectations. Job Responsibilities & Duties Typical duties include but are not limited to: Commitment to AFW's safety policies and procedures and ability to promote safety awareness. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Appraise employee performance, communicate goals and expectations, provide honest feedback and coach team members. Assist with the training of new employees and ensure that current employees are receiving ongoing training. Address complaints and resolve problems as needed. Proactively manage changes in operation of the Receiving Department. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work collaboratively alongside warehouse management team. Able to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. All training provided by AFW. Other duties to be assigned/directed by supervisor. This position does have supervisory responsibilities. Job Requirements Ability to work scheduled shifts, which may include holidays and weekends. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies including but not limited to Storis, iPad, Excel, Word, etc. Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to safely use personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately. Ability to maintain a professional and clean appearance Excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Basic computer skills Positive attitude with strong inter-personal skills Ability to follow directions and work independently Excellent communication skills and customer service experience Education & Experience High school diploma or GED is preferred.; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of diploma.
