Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for coordinating all outbound shipments within a fast-paced plastic manufacturing environment. This role ensures that finished plastic components, raw materials, and packaging supplies are accurately received, documented, and dispatched in compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and applicable shipping regulations. Key Responsibilities (but not limited to): Shipping Prepare and process outbound shipments of plastic parts, assemblies, and packaging materials for domestic and international customers. Compare packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping manifests to ensure accuracy prior to dispatch. Select appropriate packaging materials (corrugated boxes, foam, shrink wrap, pallets) to protect plastic products during transit. Apply shipping labels, hazardous material markings, and country-of-origin labels in accordance with DOT and international shipping regulations. Documentation & Compliance Generate and maintain shipping documentation including BOLs, packing slips, commercial invoices, and certificates Enter shipment data accurately into the ERP system (Epicor) and maintain up-to-date records. Coordinate with freight carriers (UPS, FedEx, LTL, full truckload) to schedule pickups and resolve transit issues. Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and internal warehouse safety protocols at all times. Support ISO or other quality system documentation requirements related to shipping and receiving activities. Inventory & Warehouse Support Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and reconciliation of shipping discrepancies. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in a safe and certified manner. Organize and maintain a clean, orderly shipping and receiving area in accordance with 5S/lean principles. Communicate product shortages, overages, or quality concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor promptly. Customer & Carrier Coordination Track shipments and proactively communicate ETAs and delays to internal teams and customers as needed. Resolve shipping errors, returns, and damaged goods claims with carriers and customers in a timely manner. Support special packaging or labeling requirements for key accounts or automotive/medical-grade customers.
Qualifications:
Required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with shipping software, carrier portals (UPS Worldship, FedEx Ship Manager), and MS Office (Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, purchase orders, and technical specifications.
  • Current or ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time pressure.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse. Preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Epicor, or similar).
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, export compliance, or hazardous materials shipping regulations.
