Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire About Pathway Group Pathway Group is a boutique recruitment firm providing staffing solutions to the Aerospace, Defense, Manufacturing, Electronics, Automation, and Robotics industries throughout Southern California. Pathway Group has partnered with a respected sheet metal manufacturing company in Signal Hill that is looking to add a Shipping & Receiving Support team member to their growing team. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity for a dependable and detail-oriented individual who can support daily shipping, receiving, packaging, and inventory activities. Job Summary The Shipping & Receiving Support team member will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of materials and finished products in and out of the facility. This position requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience with FedEx and UPS shipping, packing, creating boxes, shipping labels, barcode generation, and computer-based shipment tracking systems.
Key Responsibilities Shipping & Packaging:
Prepare, package, and label parts and products for shipment. Safely pack items to prevent damage during transportation. Select appropriate boxes, packaging materials, and protective materials based on the size and type of product. Build, assemble, and create shipping boxes as needed. Generate shipping labels and documentation using computer systems. Process shipments through FedEx, UPS, and other carriers. Schedule carrier pickups and coordinate daily shipments. Track shipments and update shipment information as needed. Create and print barcodes and tracking labels using computer software. Verify shipping information, quantities, addresses, and part numbers for accuracy. Ensure outgoing shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and documented.
Receiving:
Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against packing slips, purchase orders, or bills of lading. Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies. Report damaged or incorrect shipments to the appropriate department. Enter and maintain accurate receiving information in the computer/inventory system. Properly label and organize received materials.
Inventory & Material Handling:
Maintain organized storage of products, materials, and shipping supplies. Assist with inventory counts and investigate discrepancies. Monitor levels of boxes, labels, packing materials, and other shipping supplies. Assist with maintaining an organized and clean shipping and receiving area. Move and handle packages and materials safely throughout the facility.
Documentation & Computer Skills:
Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records. Enter shipment, tracking, and inventory information into computer systems. Create and print barcodes, labels, and tracking documentation. Utilize shipping software, carrier websites, and inventory management systems. Track shipments and provide updates when needed. Maintain accurate records of all shipping and receiving activities.
Quality & Safety:
Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness. Ensure parts are packaged according to customer and company requirements. Identify and report packaging, quality, or shipping issues. Follow all company safety procedures and shipping requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing is preferred. Hands-on experience with FedEx and UPS shipping is strongly preferred. Experience packing products and preparing shipments for transit. Ability to build and make shipping boxes. Comfortable using computers for shipping, tracking, barcode creation, and data entry. Experience creating and printing barcodes and shipping labels is a plus. Familiarity with shipping software, carrier websites, or inventory management systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to accurately read part numbers, quantities, addresses, and shipping documentation. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift and move packages and materials as required. Knowledge of workplace safety procedures. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, computer-savvy, and hands-on. They should be comfortable handling multiple shipments throughout the day, accurately preparing packages, creating shipping labels and barcodes, tracking shipments, and working with carriers such as FedEx and UPS.
