Full Job Description Title:
Shipping Clerk Job Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for packaging and shipping orders in accordance with customer requests while adhering to procedures. Also responsible for any extra paperwork involved such as SEDs, Certificates of Origin, Nafta Documents, and invoices.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Duties/Responsibilities:
Count/weigh items accurately and transact items in MRP as they are received into finished goods. Final inspect and package items in accordance with shipping instructions. Prepare proper shipping paperwork, test certs, and labels as required. Prepare paperwork for items that are transferred to finished goods.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain filing system for shipping paperwork. Maintain neat and orderly work area. Make arrangements for pickups and follow through. Prepare SED's, Nafta, Certs. of Origin, etc. for overseas shipments.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to use the ERP system to investigate order status, and properly record transactions. Ability to use the ERP system to generate slips. Knowledge of UPS/FedEx type shipping systems and rate structures. Knowledge of documentation requirements for shipment within the U.S. as well as overseas. Ability to use a scale. Knowledge of Email and Internet Explorer (for shipping carrier contact and customers paperwork). Basic computer skills and data entry. Basic math skills needed. Excellent verbal communication skills in order to be able to communicate effectively with customers and carriers with regard to their concerns or information needed.
Experience & Education Requirements:
High school diploma Computer literate.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
