Job Description

Primary Responsibility:
The Dock Clerk will assist with ensuring shipments are accurately and orderly prepared before leaving the dock. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity with potential for growth and advancement within the department. Assist with the accurate and orderly preparation of shipments by following established shipping procedures and verifying that products and paperwork match before shipments leave the facility.
Starting Rate:
$18.00 per hour
Hours:
9:00 AM - 5:30
PMOvertime:
Occasional OT may be required Shipping VerificationCount products, cartons, pallets, or packages to verify the quantity matches the shipping paperwork.

Check product numbers, descriptions, and quantities against the paperwork.

Verify the customer name and shipping address on the paperwork and shipping labels.

Verify that the correct shipping labels are attached to the correct product, pallet, or carton.

Check that the number of pallets or packages matches the shipping documents.

Verify that required paperwork, such as packing slips or bills of lading, is present.

Check that paperwork is complete and legible.

Follow established procedures for scanning shipments and entering basic shipping information into the computer system.

Verify that the shipment is going to the correct carrier or designated loading area. Product & Packaging InspectionVisually inspect products for obvious damage before shipment.

Report damaged or questionable product to the supervisor.

Verify that products are properly wrapped, packaged, strapped, or secured according to established procedures.

Check that pallets and packages are stable and suitable for shipment.

Verify that shipping labels are visible and readable.

Report missing labels, damaged packaging, or other obvious problems before loading.
