Full Job Description Summary:
The Shipper I position is responsible for receiving outbound freight and ensuring processed material is accurately accounted for and appropriately prepared for shipment through the use of scanners and tablets.
Primary Job Duties:
Manage flow of materials in shipping/outbound area. Performs pre-delivery inspection of material for conformity to company expectations. Identify and ensure proper documentation of non-conforming material. Perform proper handling and packaging of material to ensure quality standards are achieved. Enters all outbound shipment information with a hand held scanner. Pulls material, stage to proper location, load and unload material. Operates sit down forklift. Work efficiently to achieve or exceed performance targets for velocity, quality and cost. Understand and follow all ISO and 5S initiatives. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve department and company goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/ skill. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some college/technical school or experience in a third-party logistics environment preferred. Previous experience using material handling equipment preferred Operate (become certified for) a counter balance forklift and order picker. Basic personal computer skills
