ABOUT THE JOB
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Matches purchase orders with packing slips and turn over all paperwork to Accounts Payable.
  • Check of all shipped orders on Shipping Check Off List when orders are being shipped. At the end of shift each day, returns the list to the order entry personnel.
  • Handles all paperwork in the proper manner by keeping paperwork filed in proper place, tracking orders, keeping proper paper customer parts, transferring paperwork with the job for outside processing jobs.
Receiving customer signatures when parts are will-called and giving customer proper paperwork with customer's order. Keep track of all orders on Danco's delivery trucks and what orders were delivered to customer and paperwork returned for billing.
  • Verifies method of shipment. Prepares shipping documents for U.P.S, Fed-Ex, Bill of lading, Danco truck, or etc.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or places identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Inserts items into containers.
  • Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and shipping labels. Records shipping charges on Danco's paperwork for invoicing information.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to departments, outside vendors, and/or other Danco locations.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Loads and unloads delivery trucks.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Perform any and all reasonable tasks when asked by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIT Y

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    Current Driver's License SKILLS:
    • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Order processing systems.
