Shipping/ Receiving Summary:
The Shipping/Receiving Clerk I plays a critical role in the agricultural supply chain by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of incoming and outgoing shipments. This position is responsible for verifying shipment contents, maintaining detailed records, and coordinating with various departments to facilitate smooth logistics operations. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to prevent errors in inventory and shipping documentation, which directly impacts operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The clerk will also support compliance with safety and regulatory standards related to the handling and transportation of agricultural products. Ultimately, this position contributes to the seamless flow of goods, supporting the overall productivity and success of the agricultural business.
Responsibilities:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists to ensure accuracy and quality. Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs paperwork as required. Coordinate with warehouse staff and transportation providers to schedule and track shipments, ensuring timely delivery and receipt. Maintain accurate records of all shipping and receiving activities, including inventory updates and discrepancy reports. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to the handling, storage, and transportation of agricultural products. Assist in organizing and maintaining the shipping and receiving area to promote safety and efficiency. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to resolve any shipping or receiving issues promptly.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a shipping/receiving role, preferably within the agriculture industry. Experience using warehouse management software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment. Basic understanding of agricultural products and related safety regulations. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures. Familiarity with inventory management systems or willingness to learn. Ability to lift and move moderate weights as required by the job. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
