Job Description The Ecommerce Fulfillment Associate is responsible for accurately picking, packing, and shipping customer orders while maintaining the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role ensures every order reflects the exceptional experience customers expect from Portugalia Marketplace by carefully selecting products, inspecting quality, packaging merchandise securely, and preparing shipments for timely delivery. Working closely with the Ecommerce Manager, Warehouse Team, and Retail Departments, the Ecommerce Fulfillment Associate supports daily fulfillment operations, inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, and shipping logistics. This position plays a critical role in delivering an outstanding online shopping experience while maintaining productivity, food safety standards, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
  • Pick customer orders accurately from all departments throughout the marketplace using order management systems and pick lists.
  • Inspect all merchandise for freshness, quality, proper dates, and package integrity prior to packing.
  • Pack orders securely using company packaging standards to ensure products arrive safely and professionally.
  • Prepare shipments by printing shipping labels, verifying carrier requirements, and staging completed orders for daily pickup.
  • Maintain order accuracy while meeting daily fulfillment productivity goals.
  • Follow FIFO inventory practices and notify management of low inventory, damaged merchandise, or out-of-stock products.
  • Properly handle refrigerated, frozen, and shelf-stable products while maintaining required temperature standards.
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, and replenishing merchandise to support both ecommerce and retail operations.
  • Maintain organized packing stations, warehouse aisles, storage areas, and shipping supplies.
  • Ensure shipping materials and fulfillment supplies remain stocked and organized.
  • Assist with inventory counts, product organization, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Communicate customer order issues, substitutions, shipping delays, or operational concerns to the Ecommerce Manager.
  • Process returns, exchanges, and order corrections according to company procedures.
  • Collaborate with Grocery, Deli, Kitchen, Warehouse, Imports, and Customer Service teams to fulfill customer orders efficiently.
  • Maintain department cleanliness while following company safety procedures and food handling standards.
  • Support seasonal promotions, product launches, and increased fulfillment volumes during holidays and peak business periods.
  • Perform additional warehouse and fulfillment duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous warehouse, ecommerce fulfillment, grocery retail, shipping, or distribution experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high levels of order accuracy.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting productivity goals.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn warehouse management and shipping software.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 60 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in refrigerated, freezer, and warehouse environments for extended periods.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using ecommerce platforms, shipping software, or warehouse management systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping best practices.
  • Experience handling perishable food products.
  • Understanding of FIFO inventory management and food safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with UPS, FedEx, USPS, and freight shipping processes.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese grocery products and specialty foods.
  • Bilingual in English and Portuguese preferred.
