Shipping & Receiving Operator

Job Description

Vertical Converting dba Sierra Hygiene Products is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Shipper and Receiver to process inbound and outbound orders at our Cumberland facility. This role is key to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and organization of all inbound and outbound shipments and related documentation. The ideal candidate has strong computer skills, is detail oriented, has experience operating forklifts and clamp trucks, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in getting things done right the first time. A primary responsibility of this role is operating a paper roll clamp truck to unload, transport, and stage large paper rolls used in production. Candidates must be comfortable handling heavy, high-value materials safely and accurately. This is a first shift position, Monday - Thursday from 6:00 am - 4:30 pm. This is located at our Cumberland plant.
Responsibilities:
Actively participate in daily shipping operations to ensure accuracy and on-time performance. Manage the predetermined schedule of inbound and outbound shipments. Coordinate trailer loads and dispatch timing. Ensure all shipping documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company and customer requirements. Support shipping team to maintain high standards of safety and efficiency. Collaborate with Production and Logistics management to ensure smooth communication and workflow. Monitor and improve shipping processes to reduce errors, increase efficiency, and control costs. Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory movements, and carrier activity. Participate in site Inventory Audits. Ensure equipment and docks are properly maintained and organized.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse management (manufacturing experience preferred). Strong communication skills. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Prior Forklift training and Clamp Truck experience is preferred. Knowledge of freight scheduling, bill of lading documentation, and carrier management. Proficient with shipping software and Microsoft Office tools. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
