Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will manage the flow of goods moving in and out of facilities. Candidates must have a valid driver's license as they may be required to travel between facilities based on shipping needs. This position may also need to use the company vehicle to transport parts between facilities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing Shipments Proper use of FIFO policies and procedures. Prepare or build shipping containers using basic carpentry skills. Notify appropriate people/departments of items in low supply. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping and receiving docks. Prepare, process and track outgoing shipments Select the most cost-effective and timely shipping methods when needed. Schedule pickups with carriers and communicate with transportation providers to ensure OTD. Ensure compliance with hazardous material handling regulations when needed. Serve as a backup company driver for inventory moves between facilities, you may have to jump in the company vehicle at times and deliver inventory within a two-mile radius between three plants. Other duties as assigned.
• Documentation/Record Keeping/Organization Generate and maintain company shipping documents such as BOLs, packing slips shipping labels. Verify accuracy of paperwork to prevent delivery errors, misclassification, or customs delays. Maintain accurate digital and physical shipping documents. Track down required certifications and documentation for delivered items. Update WMS or ERP systems using RF scanners or computers. Verify correct Lot numbers or heat numbers upon receiving and retain necessary paperwork. Packaging/Labeling Securely pack items using appropriate materials to prevent damage during transit. Weigh and measure outgoing packages. Prepare or build shipping containers using basic carpentry skills i.e. use of nail guns and a saw. Monitor shipping supplies and reorder as needed. Ensure proper labeling for items. Receiving and Unloading Proper use of FIFO policies and procedures. Unload incoming shipments from trucks, trailers, or containers using manual methods or equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks. Sign for deliveries and verify driver paperwork and immediately check for any damage and note on driver's paperwork. Compare packing lists, invoices and purchase orders to ensure deliveries are accurate. Count, weight, or measure items to confirm quantities then stage and prepare goods to be put away. Maintain accurate digital and physical receiving records. Document discrepancies and report to supervisors. Including non-conformances to immediate Supervisor of Quality Control as required in the work instructions.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Minimum of two years' shipping and receiving experience. Strong computer skills. Strong attention to detail. Current unexpired forklift license with at least 2 years of forklift experience. Must have a valid Driver's License. Strong verbal communication skills Effective problem solving and time management skills. Self-motivated and able to work independently. 5S experience a plus but not required.
EDUCATION
High school education or GED required.
POSITION TYPE/HOURS
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, first shift position with a schedule of Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm. May require some overtime, weekend work, or flexible scheduling to support customer demands. This position may require you to travel between 3 plants within a two-mile radius based on shipping needs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
