Shipping and Receiving Assistant Job Summary The Shipping and Receiving Assistant supports warehouse operations by processing incoming deliveries, preparing outgoing shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This hands-on role works closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure smooth and timely material flow.
Key Responsibilities Receiving:
Unload incoming trucks, inspect deliveries for damages or discrepancies, and match contents against packing slips and purchase orders.
Shipping:
Prepare, pack, label, and weigh outgoing orders efficiently while selecting appropriate shipping methods and carriers.
Inventory Control:
Record shipment data, update inventory logs, and assist with routine cycle counts and stock organization.
Communication:
Coordinate with freight carriers, vendors, and internal departments regarding delivery schedules, tracking, and issue resolution.
Safety & Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
Qualifications & Skills Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Bilingual :
Spanish and English is a plus.
Experience:
6 months to 1 year of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or shipping environment.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Fedex, or basic ERP database navigation) and familiarity with RF scanners.
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, time management, and clear communication abilities. Physical Demands Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
