Job Description
Piedmont Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping & Receiving Assistant to support daily inbound and outbound material shipments across our manufacturing operations. This role will maintain accurate shipping and receiving records, track material movement, manage Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation, support inventory accuracy, and coordinate with internal teams and third-party carriers. Key Responsibilities Track inbound and outbound shipments and material movement. Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records. Collect, verify, and organize Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation. Assist with inventory counts, audits, and reconciliation of discrepancies. Inspect incoming and outgoing materials and verify documentation. Coordinate shipment status and documentation with carriers and internal departments. Prepare and update reports using Microsoft Excel and company software. Support the Shipping & Receiving Lead with daily operations and special projects. Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Office. Strong organization and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 1-2 years of shipping/receiving, warehouse, logistics, inventory, or manufacturing experience preferred. Experience with ERP or inventory management systems preferred. Associate's degree or related coursework in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently inspect materials throughout the facility. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, and other manufacturing equipment.
