Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Shipping/Receiving & FTZ Clerk to join our warehouse office team in Port Newark, NJ. This position will support the daily movement of import and export freight through our warehouse, including shipping and receiving documentation, driver check-in/check-out, data entry, heavy customer communication, and the processing and recordkeeping of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) freight. Previous experience working with FTZ freight and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements is required for this position. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and understands the importance of maintaining accurate and compliant records for CBP-regulated freight. Key Responsibilities Handle daily shipping and receiving paperwork for inbound and outbound freight Check truck drivers in and out of the warehouse facility Enter and update shipment information in warehouse and logistics systems Prepare and review warehouse receipts, delivery orders, shipping documents, and related paperwork Process incoming and outgoing Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) freight Create, maintain, and organize FTZ shipment folders and records in accordance with CBP requirements and company procedures Ensure FTZ files contain all required supporting documentation and are complete, accurate, and audit-ready Review FTZ documentation for accuracy and compliance before freight is admitted, transferred, withdrawn, or released Maintain accurate records of FTZ inventory and cargo movements Monitor open FTZ files and follow up on missing documentation or outstanding requirements Assist with CBP requests, reviews, inspections, and audits by locating and providing required shipment records Identify missing, incomplete, or incorrect customs documentation and work with customers, customs brokers, or other parties to resolve discrepancies Ensure freight is not released or moved until all required documentation and approvals have been received Communicate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, customers, truckers, and internal warehouse personnel regarding FTZ and customs-controlled freight Communicate with warehouse staff regarding incoming and outgoing shipments Respond to customer emails and shipment status requests Maintain accurate electronic and physical filing systems Assist with general warehouse office and administrative duties as needed Required Qualifications Previous Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) experience is required Working knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements and FTZ recordkeeping is required Experience maintaining CBP-compliant FTZ files and supporting documentation Previous experience handling import/export, bonded, FTZ, or other customs-controlled freight Previous shipping/receiving, warehouse office, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or logistics experience Strong computer and data-entry skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments and priorities Ability to communicate professionally with customers, drivers, warehouse personnel, customs brokers, and other logistics partners Preferred Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus: Foreign Trade Zone operations and documentation CBP compliance and recordkeeping Customs bonded freight Import and export cargo Customs brokers and freight forwarders Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) Containerized ocean freight CFS/import warehouse operations Transportation or logistics systems
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
