A Shipping or Receiving Clerk tracks all incoming and/or outgoing shipments at a company facility and checks that shipment orders are filled correctly. Uses scanning equipment to track inventory. Works in receiving to check shipments that are primarily production materials or company supplies, or checks outgoing shipments of finished products.
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Purpose and Description Demonstrates a proficiency for pulling and preparing orders for prompt shipment as well as verifying and entering receipt of incoming shipments. Processes a variety of shipping and receiving activities for a small, fast- paced manufacturing company. Performs data entry for shipping and receiving activities by entering data directly into the company database while also completing intermediate operations such as cross-checking, comparison or ordinary calculations. Completes various standard procedures and prepares and uses several types of forms, reports, or records to compile data. Moves product throughout the facility using hand-trucks, dollies, and motorized fork truck. May assist company management with special projects. May provide administrative support to other departments. May complete work finishing operations and machining as time allows. May assist in building maintenance functions.

Essential Functions:
1.
Facilitates shipping and receiving activities:
Provides clerical and materials movement support of some diversity including entering data and preparing standard reports from enterprise resource system (ERP), transporting materials throughout the facility using hand truck or forklift and facilitating the delivery/pick up of materials with customer and vendor representatives. May provide support for other departments as required and as time allows. 2. Creates shipping documents and prepares packages for shipment: Regularly enters data into company ERP system for facilitating shipping activities including the creation of packing lists and other related shipping documents. Accurately creates shipping labels using UPS & FedEx online portals. Carefully and securely packages product per customer-specific requirements including bulk delivery (scheduling freight pickup, banding and wrapping skids, etc.) Maintains organization of packaging preparation area to ensure smooth movement of product in this fast-paced manufacturing environment. 3. Receives and confirms the receipt of incoming materials: Reviews incoming materials against purchase order data to ensure quality of product and quantity received is correct. Confirms receipt of material in company ERP system, tags material for identification, if needed, and distributes materials and/or communicates location of material to others. 4.
Expedites work through planned operations:
Facilitates the movement of product between operations and in accordance to planned work schedule. Arranges for Subcontracted and Outside Services activities for product including creating and filing purchase orders as well as keep up with and communicating the status of these orders with production team. Attends weekly production meetings. 5. Moves boxes and skids of parts throughout facility: Facilitates the movement of product and materials throughout the facility using dollies, hands trucks, fork trucks, etc. Safely and proficiently operates motorized industrial equipment and manual transport devices. Secures product and materials to ensure safe transportation. 6.
Demonstrates excellent attention to detail:
Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail, with excellent visual acuity to identify defective product and ensure part counts are correct. Often compares and cross-checks data to ensure accuracy while maintaining consistent, acceptable levels of output. 7.
Maintains work area:
Keeps work area clean and orderly; helps to maintain general office area and may help with reorganization projects both in the general office and within the manufacturing areas. 8.
Punctuality and Attendance:
Regularly shows up for work and arrives on time. 9. May provide support to other departments: May complete basic purchasing functions including creating purchase orders, contacting vendors via phone, email, or online portals to place orders, tracking the status of existing orders, researching vendors' items or other related activities. May assist company management with special projects. May complete work finishing and/or machining operations as time allows. May assist in building maintenance functions. 10.
