Job Summary:

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities/Tasks:

Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, orders, or other records. Interpret packing lists and enter into the computer the correct information to acknowledge receipt of goods into the purchase order and processing database. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers and ensures that the packaging protects the parts. Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers or boxes with appropriate packaging tape. Posts weights and shipping charges. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to correct departments. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Prints pick tickets for parts orders needing picked. Ships parts orders through the manufacturing software system. Creates NAFTA Certificates of Origin for international Physical Requirement of the
