This position receives orders and verifies accuracy, unloads trucks, stores inventory in designated areas, and processes returns. This position handles purchase orders and authorizes payments, negotiates with suppliers, when necessary, tracks orders, forecasts for and maintains correct inventory levels of all items. The Purchasing and Receiving Clerk will work through the logistics department and communicate consistently with quality, accounting and production scheduling departments. This position understands and implements applicable regulations (GMP's, quality systems, etc.) including FIFO procedures and must be able and certified to operate a forklift, certification or recertification can be provided if necessary.
Responsibilities:
Manage and track all inventory, including monitoring current stock and new deliveries. Compare purchase orders with invoices and packaging lists. Inspect deliveries to ensure they match order and invoice criteria. Receive and sign for deliveries. Unload deliveries from trucks. Process returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items. Organize and store received items in appropriate areas. Conduct regular cycle counts, maintain clean storage areas, and ensure materials are used with FIFO procedures. Update inventory with received items in ERP software. Communicating with vendors regarding delays or problems. Maintaining records of orders, delivery details, etc. Develop an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders. Identify alternative suppliers, when necessary, focusing on quality and cost reductions. Order and organize supplies. Ensure the accuracy of purchase orders. Research, select and purchase quality ingredients and materials. Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing. Effectively communicate to ensure all orders are accurate, from trustworthy wholesalers and manufacturers and ensure their deliveries are on time, complete, free of damage, and within budget. Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery. Deliver a weekly purchase order report to all relevant departments.
