Shipping & Receiving Clerk Job Description The Shipping & Receiving Clerk oversees daily shipping operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, ensuring that all outbound orders are accurately scheduled, prepared, and dispatched. This role focuses on coordinating trucking appointments, organizing work orders, and using warehouse management systems to maintain precise inventory and shipment records. Responsibilities Coordinate daily trucking appointments to ensure timely pickup and delivery of outbound shipments. Respond promptly to incoming trucks and manage check-in procedures at the shipping dock. Assign drivers to the correct bay doors based on scheduled appointments and operational needs. Organize warehouse work orders before each day begins, aligning tasks with the shipping schedule and production requirements. Confirm that the correct orders and pallets are staged in the designated locations on the shipping dock prior to loading. Utilize warehouse management systems to accurately enter, update, and maintain shipping and inventory data. Support shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading as needed to meet production and shipping timelines. Monitor inventory control related to shipping operations to help maintain accurate stock levels. Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to resolve scheduling or order discrepancies quickly. Follow strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety procedures during all shipping and warehouse activities. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Proficiency using warehouse management systems to manage orders, appointments, and inventory data. Ability to coordinate trucking appointments and communicate clearly with drivers and carriers. Experience organizing and prioritizing daily work orders based on scheduled shipping appointments. Skill in assigning drivers to appropriate bay doors and managing dock flow efficiently. Strong attention to detail to confirm correct orders and pallets are staged in the proper locations. Accurate data entry skills for maintaining shipping and inventory records. Familiarity with inventory control practices related to shipping and loading. Capability to assist with loading activities and general warehouse tasks when needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in a food manufacturing or similar regulated environment is beneficial. Comfort working within strict GMP guidelines and quality standards. Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple shipments and appointments. Effective communication skills to work closely with drivers, warehouse staff, and production teams. Ability to adapt to changing production demands, including occasional Saturday work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
