Job Description

Brook Mays Music has been Texas' band and orchestra headquarters since 1901. Every trumpet, clarinet, violin, and drum kit that ships out of our Dallas warehouse is headed to a student, a teacher, or a musician who's counting on it showing up right and on time — and that's your job.
Schedule:
Flexible — full-time or part-time, Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Our regular week is days only; evening and weekend hours become available during our busy seasons for anyone who wants the extra hours. A schedule that actually works with your life: we genuinely offer both full-time and part-time hours within our Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm window. Whether you're a student working around class, a parent working around school pickup, semi-retired, or juggling a second job, we can build a schedule that fits. What you'll do:
  • Pull customer orders from bin locations across our eCommerce warehouse using a handheld scanner and pick list
  • Verify item, quantity, and condition against the order before it moves to packing
  • Pack and prep orders for shipment — box selection, protective packing for delicate instruments and accessories, label application
  • Restock and organize bin locations as new inventory comes in, keeping locations accurate so the next picker isn't hunting
  • Flag damaged, mis-shelved, or short-count inventory instead of shipping it out wrong
  • Work as part of a small warehouse team hitting daily order-volume targets, heavier during back-to-school (Jul-Sep) and holiday season What the job asks of you, honestly:
  • On your feet and moving for most of the shift
  • Regular lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional larger items (cases, amps, band instrument outfits) with a hand truck or a second person
  • Comfortable using a handheld scanner and basic warehouse software — we'll train you on our systems
  • Reliable attendance — the team depends on full staffing to hit daily ship cutoffs What we're looking for:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No warehouse experience required — we'll train the right person; prior pick/pack/stocking experience is a plus
  • Must pass a background check, reference check, and drug test
Benefits:
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Employee discount on instruments, gear, and accessories
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Long-term disability (LTD)
  • Short-term disability (STD)
  • Life insurance
  • AD&D (accidental death & dismemberment) insurance
Why Brook Mays:
  • This isn't an anonymous fulfillment warehouse — every box you pack is a real instrument headed to a real student or musician. If you care about music, that's work worth doing well
  • You're handling real instruments, not generic freight — careful handling is part of the job, and we'll train you on how we do it
  • A small team where you're a person, not a badge number, with a direct line to the warehouse manager — not a layer of supervisors between you and someone who can actually answer a question
  • Room to grow into other parts of the business as you prove yourself — tell us a little about yourself and we'll be in touch.
Brook Mays Music is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All offers are contingent on a background check, reference check, and drug screening.
