DESCRIPTION
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment in a timely and efficient manner, and for ensuring accurate information on shipping documents as well as other responsibilities that ensure that products are shipped out in a timely, efficient and quality manner. The schedule for this position is 7:30 am to 4pm
M-F. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Directs and organizes the department's daily work load in a lead-time capacity. Assists in training the shipping department's staff. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs and/or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Determines best method of shipment. Ensures proper compliance to both domestic and international shipments. Manages all requirements and documentation for international shipments. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers. Ensures that container is appropriately secured for safe shipment. Ensures identifying information and shipping instructions are properly secured to packaging. Determines weight and accurate shipping charges and affixes postage. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipment meets specifications. Maintains an accurate inventory of shipping materials and supplies and periodically ensures accuracy through audits.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret domestic and international shipping regulations and bills of lading and to convey these requirements to others. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and processes. Ability to understand metrics and improve processes based results of metrics. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Knowledge and understanding of shipping equipment such as scales, meters, packaging machines and ability to train others in effective utilization. This job requires the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously. Requires the ability to be an effective communicator and to work well with others to achieve overall established goals.
