Job Title:
Receiving Clerk Job Description The Receiving Clerk plays a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient handling of inbound shipments. This position is responsible for greeting drivers, logging and tracking shipments, maintaining receiving priorities, and entering materials into the ERP systems to support smooth trailer flow and timely receipt of goods. Responsibilities Greet arriving drivers in a professional manner and accurately log all inbound shipments. Create and update Dock Ranger appointments promptly to support efficient scheduling and trailer flow. Perform regular system checks on receiving lanes to maintain smooth and efficient trailer movement. Track trailers and shipments using spreadsheets and receiving logs to ensure accurate visibility of inventory and shipment status. Monitor due-in and time-sensitive ("hot") shipments to ensure critical receipts are processed first and potential financial loss is avoided. Maintain and update receiving priorities and visual management boards with current hot shipment status. Enter received materials into the ERP system AS400 to ensure timely and accurate recording of receipts. Maintain shift tracking spreadsheets to capture all parts and materials received during the shift. Coordinate closely with the dock crew on trailer placement, paperwork handling, and unloading priorities based on urgency and organizational impact. Track dock door activity and shipment status from yard arrival through put-away using ERP system XA and yard logs. Create Bills of Lading (BOLs) for approved returns, including dunnage and intercompany transfers. Monitor ERP system AS400 transactions for transfer trailers moving between plants to ensure accurate and timely processing. Essential Skills 6 months to 1 year of experience in shipping and receiving. Hands-on experience with inventory handling and control in a warehouse or distribution environment. Ability to operate or work around forklifts in a shipping and receiving setting. Experience with picking and packing processes in a warehouse environment. Comfort working with computer-based systems, including ERP platforms such as AS400 and XA. Ability to accurately track shipments and materials using spreadsheets and receiving logs. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering data into systems and maintaining records. Effective communication skills to coordinate with drivers and dock crew regarding trailer placement, paperwork, and priorities. Ability to work consistently on 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 1:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience as a receiving clerk or in a similar role in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with Dock Ranger or similar dock scheduling tools. Ability to create and manage Bills of Lading (BOLs) for returns and intercompany transfers. Comfort working with visual management tools and priority boards for shipment tracking. Steel-toe footwear required for work on the facility floor. Interest in learning other departments such as welding, maintenance, or machining for future advancement. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a very large, clean, and climate-controlled manufacturing and distribution facility that produces high-end stainless steel kitchen appliances. 1st shift schedule, Monday-Thursday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (20/hr) 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Thursday, from 1:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. (21/hr) Work is performed in and around shipping docks, trailers, and warehouse areas, using ERP systems such as AS400 and XA, along with spreadsheets and visual management tools. The environment involves regular interaction with drivers and dock crew and requires adherence to safety standards, including wearing steel-toe footwear while on the floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fitchburg, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
