At Baltimore Hunger Project, our mission is to eliminate weekend childhood hunger by feeding hungry minds and bodies. We bridge the gap between Friday and Monday by providing nutritious food packages to elementary school children who are at risk of hunger over the weekend. In addition to food bags, we distribute essential hygiene products, snack packs, and special birthday kits to bring dignity, comfort, and joy to the children and families we serve.
Position Summary:
Baltimore Hunger Project is seeking a dedicated, organized, and hands-on Warehouse Manager to oversee all warehouse operations. Managing BHP's 10,000 square foot warehouse as well as food products, donations, and non-perishable goods annually, the Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in ensuring our supply chain runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position involves managing inventory, receiving and processing donations, preparing for largescale volunteer food-packing sessions, and leading teams of volunteers within the warehouse environment. Key Responsibilities Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management Oversee all daily warehouse operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and highly organized facility. Receive, inspect, log, and store incoming shipments, bulk food purchases, and community donations. Accurately organize and manage the warehouse inventory, including food products, hygiene products, snack bags, and birthday kit items. Implement inventory control procedures to prevent waste, rotate stock (FIFO), and track expiration dates. Perform regular inventory audits and report supply levels to leadership to assist with purchasing needs. Organize warehouse layout to maximize efficiency, accessibility, and safety for staff and volunteers. Volunteer Management & Community Engagement Lead, direct, and motivate individuals and volunteer groups working in the warehouse. Train volunteers on warehouse safety protocols, sorting techniques, and packing procedures. Foster a warm, welcoming, and productive environment that encourages donor and volunteer retention. Packing Session & Program Support Stage food items, hygiene supplies, and packing stations in preparation for corporate, community, and volunteer packing sessions. Coordinate with program staff to ensure packing sessions run smoothly and on schedule. Ensure packed weekend bags, snack bags, hygiene kits, and birthday boxes are properly palletized, labeled, and prepared for distribution to partner schools. Facility & Equipment Maintenance Maintain warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jacks, shelving units, hand trucks) and ensure proper usage. Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards required for handling food and personal care products. Perform basic facility maintenance tasks and coordinate with outside vendors/contractors as needed.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
3+ years of experience in warehouse management, inventory control, logistics, or operations (nonprofit or food distribution experience preferred). Forklift operation certification.
Leadership:
Strong interpersonal skills with experience managing or supervising volunteers or team members.
Organization:
Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods in a warehouse environment. Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., manual and electric pallet jacks, forklift).
Licensure:
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Forklift certification required. Why Join Us?
