Job Description

Overview The Operations Manager is responsible for executing and overseeing day-to-day dockside operations, including seafood purchasing, product handling, and facility workflow. This is a hands-on role working directly on the dock, in the yard, and around trucks, ensuring product moves efficiently from harvesters to outbound distribution. This position works closely with the Logistics & Distribution Manager, who oversees scheduling and planning. The Operations Manager is responsible for on-the-ground execution, leading by example and actively participating in all physical and operational tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, and experienced in fast-paced, labor-intensive environments—someone comfortable operating equipment, managing crews, and making real-time decisions. Responsibilities Lead dockside seafood purchasing from harvesters and dealers Serve as primary point of contact for fishermen at the dock Execute daily dock and yard operations alongside staff (hands-on role) Operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks as needed Supervise, direct, and work alongside dock staff and drivers Assign daily tasks and ensure workflow priorities are met Coordinate truck loading/unloading and staging of outbound shipments Oversee consolidation of product from multiple harbors Work in coordination with the Logistics & Distribution Manager on timing and flow Manage live tank inventory levels and assist with tank maintenance Monitor and maintain inventory of operational supplies (bands, crates, pallets, etc.) Ensure safe handling of product and maintain clean, organized work areas Maintain dock, yard, and facility in safe working condition Represent the company professionally in all interactions with fishermen and drivers Perform additional operational duties as required Skills Strong work ethic and willingness to lead by example Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment Strong communication and relationship management skills Solid organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in real time Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick decisions Ability to effectively supervise and motivate a small team Qualifications Experience in seafood operations, dock work, warehousing, or similar field preferred Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred Forklift experience preferred (or willingness to be trained) Ability to lift and handle heavy materials (50-105 lbs regularly) Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required CDL (Preferred) Why Join Us?
