Warehouse Manager / Vice President Job Summary The Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing all inbound freight and receiving operations at our Kansas City, MO distribution facility. This role ensures that all incoming shipments are accurately and promptly processed, properly documented, and safely handled. The Receiving Manager manages unloading and sorting of deliveries, and works closely with warehouse operations, inventory control, and purchasing to maintain inventory accuracy and operational efficiency. This position also supports and backs up the Warehouse Manager as needed. Key Responsibilities
- Manage all receiving operations, including unloading and sorting of deliveries
- Ensure that all incoming shipments are accurately and promptly processed
- Coordinate inbound shipments and dock assignments
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists for quantity and condition
- Document and resolve discrepancies, damages, and shortages with carriers and vendors
- Ensure proper labeling, staging, and put-away of received inventory
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system (WMS)
- Enforce safety policies, housekeeping standards, and OSHA compliance
- Monitor equipment usage and report maintenance or repair needs
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce receiving errors
- Collaborate with shipping, inventory control, and purchasing teams to support operational goals
- Support and back up the Warehouse Manager in daily warehouse operations
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Warehouse Manager
- Assist with labor planning, scheduling, and performance management
- Help enforce company policies, procedures, and operational standards across the warehouse
- Participate in cross-department coordination and problem-solving to support overall warehouse efficiency Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred
- 3+ years of warehouse or distribution experience, with supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of receiving, inventory control, and freight documentation
- Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer applications
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in a warehouse environment for extended periods Schedule Full-time; schedule flexibility may be required to meet inbound delivery demands Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience.
