Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Distribution Center Director to lead and optimize all aspects of our distribution operations. This pivotal role involves overseeing warehouse management, transportation logistics, inventory control, and supply chain processes to ensure seamless order fulfillment and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, manage cross-functional teams, and implement innovative process enhancements to elevate efficiency and service levels across the distribution network. Duties Lead the overall management of distribution center operations, including warehouse functions, transportation planning, freight management, and shipping & receiving activities. Develop and execute strategic plans for process improvement utilizing Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Oversee inventory management systems and inventory control procedures to ensure accurate stock levels, order accuracy, and optimal inventory turnover. Manage budget planning, cost control, profit & loss statements, and financial performance metrics to meet organizational goals. Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and other transportation partners to optimize freight movement and delivery schedules. Implement and maintain ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and other supply chain analytics tools for data-driven decision-making. Supervise warehouse supervisors and logistics teams, fostering a high-performance culture through effective communication, training, and team development initiatives. Oversee procurement activities including purchasing, materials management, production planning, and demand forecasting to align supply with operational needs. Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies across all distribution activities. Monitor key performance indicators related to distribution operations such as order fulfillment rates, shipping accuracy, freight costs, fleet management efficiency, and inventory accuracy. Qualifications Proven experience in warehouse supervision or distribution operations leadership with a strong track record of managing large-scale facilities. Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles including logistics management, transportation systems, inventory control, procurement, and process optimization. Familiarity with ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and supply chain analytics tools. Demonstrated ability in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma to drive operational efficiencies. Strong managerial communication skills with experience supervising diverse teams in fast-paced environments. Expertise in budgeting, profit & loss analysis, demand planning, production planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PL), freight carriers including NVOCCs, fleet management practices, and materials handling equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and data analysis. Knowledge of inventory management practices including cycle counting and inventory reconciliation procedures. Ability to develop strategic plans that align with organizational goals while fostering a safety-first culture across all distribution activities.
