Job Description

Job Summary The Warehouse Manager oversees daily warehouse operations to ensure the efficient handling of materials, accurate inventory control, timely shipping and receiving, and adherence to workplace safety protocols. This role plays a key part in supporting both retail and commercial flooring projects by ensuring that materials and supplies are delivered accurately and on schedule. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment. Essential Functions Manage all warehouse operations including receiving, storing, organizing, and distributing materials, tools, and flooring products. Supervise warehouse staff to ensure productivity, accuracy, and safety standards are met consistently. Maintain accurate inventory records; oversee regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies. Coordinate closely with purchasing, project management, and installation teams to schedule deliveries and ensure timely fulfilment of material needs. Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed correctly and documented. Optimize warehouse layout and storage solutions to maximize efficiency and accessibility. Monitor and maintain warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks); coordinate repairs or replacements as needed. Enforce safety policies and procedures; conduct routine safety inspections and lead safety training for warehouse staff. Implement and maintain clean, organized workspaces in compliance with company and OSHA standards. Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve logistics, reduce costs, and support overall operational goals. Other Duties Conducting monthly inventory audits and vendor reconciliations. Assist with logistics planning for large commercial jobs or out-of-region deliveries. Handle customer pick-ups and coordinate special handling as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Duties Provide leadership and direction to direct reports, including recruitment, training, and performance management. Set clear expectations, goals, and priorities for team members and monitor their progress towards achieving them. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide feedback, support their professional development, and address any performance issues. Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, balancing workload and ensuring optimal utilization of team resources. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging open communication, idea sharing, and teamwork. Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and career growth within the company. Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the company's values and culture. Handle escalated issues or conflicts within the team, providing guidance and facilitating resolution in a timely and effective manner. Collaborate with other departmental managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader company goals and objectives. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of warehouse or logistics experience, including supervisory experience. Experience in flooring, construction materials, or retail distribution strongly preferred. Familiarity with inventory control systems and warehouse management software. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficient knowledge of flooring materials and installation supplies. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory tracking software. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal departments and external vendors. Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong attention to detail, especially regarding inventory accuracy and shipment verification. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50-75 lbs regularly (e.g., inspecting job sites, handling materials, or assisting with installations as needed). Requires visual acuity to read labels, complete logs, and operate equipment safely. Occasional exposure to dust, noise, and variable weather conditions when visiting job sites, warehouses, or customer locations. Requires visual acuity to assess job site conditions, read reports, and work with digital tools. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment. Occasionally required to work evenings or weekends based on project needs or urgent service demands. Ability to drive to different locations as needed (valid driver's license required).
