Reporting to the Vice President of Distribution System Planning, this position manages a technical team responsible for identifying system vulnerabilities, analyzing outage and equipment performance, assessing climate and storm risks, and developing targeted solutions that reduce customer interruptions, restoration costs, and equipment damage. The Manager works closely with Distribution Planning, , Operations, Asset Management, Grid Modernization, Regulatory, IT, Vegetation Management, DER Planning, and other internal and external stakeholders. The role also supports regulatory proceedings, rate cases, performance-based regulation requirements, and service-quality commitments.Key Responsibilities:
Lead reliability and resiliency planning for the electric distribution system across CT, MA and NH Develop predictive analytics, system models, metrics, scorecards, and planning tools to identify deficiencies and prioritize investments. Establish data-driven methods for evaluating the costs and benefits of reliability and resiliency programs. Develop system-hardening strategies using automation, advanced controls, stronger overhead construction, vegetation management, targeted undergrounding, energy storage, DERs, and other technologies. Lead climate vulnerability assessments and develop adaptation and mitigation strategies. Improve storm preparedness, restoration planning, and storm-cost performance. Develop strategic and tactical plans to meet performance-based regulation and service-quality requirements. Support circuit planning and coordinate capacity, voltage, reliability, DER integration, and electrification needs. Provide regulatory testimony, rate-case support, technical responses, and expert analysis. Lead benchmarking, equipment-failure analysis, vendor engagement, technology evaluations, RFP development, and consultant oversight. Manage engineers, contractors, consultants, project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables. Represent the company with regulators, government agencies, industry organizations, and professional working groups. Support emergency restoration assignments as required.Qualifications:
BSEE required; MSEE or a related technical field preferred. 10+ years of progressive electric utility experience, preferably in distribution planning, reliability, resiliency, engineering, or a related area. Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and delivering complex utility projects. Strong knowledge of electric distribution systems, planning criteria, system modeling, reliability analysis, protection and control, storm restoration, and equipment standards. Experience with distribution planning and simulation tools, including steady-state and dynamic analysis; familiarity with Synergi is beneficial. Understanding of distribution automation, smart-grid technologies, DERs, energy storage, and grid-hardening solutions. Experience supporting regulatory proceedings, rate cases, service-quality metrics, or performance-based regulation is preferred. Strong analytical, financial, project-management, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence senior leaders, and translate complex technical analysis into actionable investment strategies. Ability to travel between company locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Availability for emergency restoration assignments.
