In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, design, and implementation of high-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems for utility and energy sector projects. Your expertise will drive innovative system solutions, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support the safe, reliable delivery of electrical power. Duties Lead the design and development of high-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as
IEEE, NEC
(National Electrical Code), NFPA 70, and NESC (National Electrical Safety Code). Manage project schedules from conception through completion, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to meet deadlines and budget targets. Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other CAD software to create detailed schematics, system layouts, and construction drawings for utility electrical systems. Conduct power system analysis using MATLAB and specialized engineering tools to evaluate system performance, fault conditions, and protection schemes. Develop system design solutions incorporating power electronics circuits, power system protection strategies, and energy-efficient technologies. Oversee construction activities related to electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and engineering specifications. Implement IEEE standards for high-voltage systems and power electronics applications while troubleshooting complex electrical issues in public utility environments. Collaborate with stakeholders on project management activities including resource allocation, risk assessment, and quality assurance. Perform detailed engineering troubleshooting of electrical problems in AC/DC systems, high-voltage equipment, and utility electrical networks. Maintain comprehensive documentation such as schematics, technical reports, system models in GIS platforms, and project records for regulatory compliance. Support the integration of GIS data with engineering designs to optimize system planning and asset management. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degrees or certifications in power systems or systems engineering are preferred. Proven experience in power distribution engineering within the utility or energy sector with a strong understanding of utility electrical systems. Extensive knowledge of high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical systems design, protection schemes, and power system analysis techniques. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation; experience with GIS platforms is advantageous. Familiarity with engineering standards including IEEE standards, NEC/NESC codes, NFPA 70 compliance requirements, and energy sector regulations. Strong project management skills with experience in project scheduling using industry-standard tools; ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously. Skilled in electrical troubleshooting across AC/DC systems as well as mechanical knowledge relevant to electrical infrastructure components. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Prior public utility experience is highly desirable; knowledge of construction practices related to utility infrastructure is a plus.
