Job Description

ACCOUNTING MANAGER - DISTRIBUTION & INVENTORY
Location:
Arlington, Texas Schedule:
Full-time, on-site
Salary:
$85,000-$106,500 annually, based on experience
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing material distribution company serving the multifamily renovation and construction industry. This is not a position for someone who only wants to review reports from a distance. We need someone who can lead the accounting function, dig into the details, resolve issues and make sure our financial information is accurate and delivered on time. The right person will be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment involving inventory, purchasing, customer credit, accounts receivable, accounts payable and project-level profitability. This position reports directly to the President and works closely with ownership and department leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the monthly and year-end close process. Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately. Prepare monthly financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and collections. Review daily cash activity and assist with short-term cash-flow planning. Manage bank and credit-card reconciliations. Review inventory accounting, inventory adjustments and cost-of-goods-sold activity. Monitor job costing and project profitability. Reconcile inventory and accounting records between the company's systems. Review customer credit applications, credit limits and account holds. Maintain appropriate accounting controls and approval processes. Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. Coordinate with outside tax, audit, insurance and accounting partners. Support sales, purchasing and operations by resolving accounting and transaction issues. Identify gaps in current processes and implement practical improvements. Develop clear procedures that improve accuracy, accountability and efficiency. Supervise and support members of the accounting team. Provide accurate, timely information to leadership for decision-making.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field preferred. At least five years of progressive accounting experience. Prior experience leading an accounting department or supervising accounting staff. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close. Experience with inventory accounting, distribution, construction materials or a similar product-based business strongly preferred. Experience with job costing and project-level profitability preferred. Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections. Experience working with inventory management and accounting systems. Advanced Excel skills. Ability to identify discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Comfortable working directly with company leadership and department managers. CPA or CMA is a plus but is not required.
THE RIGHT FIT
We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly and does not wait for problems to resolve themselves. This person should be able to balance accuracy with urgency and understand that accounting supports every part of the business. You will do well in this position if you are dependable, solutions-focused and comfortable building better processes while managing the daily workload.
WHY JOIN US
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the accounting function within a growing company and have a direct impact on how the business operates. You will work closely with leadership, help strengthen the company's financial controls and play an important role in supporting continued growth. To apply, please submit your résumé along with a brief summary of your experience with inventory accounting, distribution, job costing or construction-related accounting.
