Retail, Wholesale, Apparel Description The Yard Area Manager plays an integral role in overseeing a team of third-party Yard Drivers and directly supervising the Harbor Freight Tools Yard Management System (YMS) Clerks and Coordinators. Their responsibilities extend to cost reduction, streamlining manpower efficiency, and ensuring the efficient execution of all yard management planning requirements. This role necessitates collaboration with various internal departments and external partners to enhance Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Planning, Transportation, and Maintenance, ultimately driving optimization and service excellence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communicate, in all necessary forms, to ACAC leadership and Yard Drivers along with HFT Yard Management, YMS Admins and Operations Coordinators, including but not limited to process changes, process improvements, corrective actions (HFT only), disciplinary actions (HFT only), policy changes, etc. Communicate, in all necessary forms, any issues and opportunities that require HFT Management attention. Understand and be familiar with HFT Transportation Safety Policies and Procedures as well asOSHA, F MCSR
regulations and standards. Escalate WMS/YMS issues to HFT local and corporate management teams. Track driver safety practices, performance and incentives. Pre-Approve Kronos time for all HFT associates. Maintain Yard Truck Usage reports. Audit compliance of license, permits and insurance cards for assigned HFT vehicles (Day cabs, yard trucks, straight trucks, etc.) Initiate work orders to correct facility/yard repairs. Review all ACAC invoices and audit for any discrepancies. Provide daily and weekly operational plans to third party on driver needs Strategically staff Yard Drivers, YMS Admin Clerks and Operations Coordinators when necessary. Monitor error of YMS Admin Clerks/Operations Coordinators. Oversee regular trailer audits to ensure accuracy of our yard. Perform regular equipment audits to ensure OSHA standards, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), local and state laws. Conduct required training for Yard Drivers, YMS Admins and Operations Coordinators. Report and track safety observations, accidents, and incidents to site EHS Manager. Coordinate and follow up on all vehicle maintenance related items with assigned vendor(s). Understanding the scheduling, arrivals and departures of trailers/ containers to drive effective communication with Operations. Create partnership with all departments to fully understand the flow in/ out of the yard(s) as well as maintaining accurate trailer/container counts thru audits. Report Yard Driver productivity/utilization. Monitor and analyze driver performance, such as task execution and moves per hour. Report HFT Yard related maintenance expenses. Report any required YMS Admin Clerical report functions. Provide any and all necessary reports to Transportation Manager and other Management team members Regular attendance is an essential function of the job Additional duties as assigned Scope Staff supervision and development — yes Decision making- yes Travel

- NA The anticipated salary range for this position is $89,500
- $102,925 depending on location, knowledge, skills, education and experience.
- Education and Experience Preferred
B.A./B.S.
in business, transportation management, global logistics, or other related studies or equivalent experience. Preferred 5 years' experience in relevant field including minimum of 3-5 years in a transportation management role. Advanced knowledge of a fast-paced Distribution Yard Management operation Ability to analyze raw data to drive utilization and productivity efficiencies. High business acumen, leadership, planning and organization. Excellent leadership, communication, analytical and project management skills required to effectively lead and manage direct subordinate employees and multi-layer function.- Ability to participate as a team-member as well as leader in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
