Job Description

Yard Manager (Lumberyard & Warehouse) Rawlins, WY | On-site | Full-time | $17.00-$22.00 per hour R.P. Lumber is hiring a Yard Manager for our Rawlins, WY lumberyard. This is a working supervisor role. You will lead yard and warehouse people, keep inventory received and stored correctly, run safe equipment and delivery operations, and give contractors and homeowners a clean, well-run yard. You will report to the General Manager. You will also help train the yard team, manage labor hours, and complete the reporting that goes with receiving and delivering inventory. About R.P. What you will do Yard, warehouse, and inventory Oversee incoming inventory and make sure product is stored correctly in the yard and warehouse Audit delivery tickets against purchase orders for vendor, product type, and quantity Notify the General Manager of shortages or damage Direct yard personnel using forklifts and other equipment to load, unload, and move product Build accurate delivery loads before trucks leave Inspect outgoing loads for shipping specs, weight limits, and safety rules Prepare and reconcile bills of lading and packing slips Load customer vehicles and company trucks after checking the ticket against the product Evaluate returned merchandise for resale, salvage, or other disposition Keep the yard and warehouse organized, stocked, and free of trash, weeds, and trip hazards People, customers, and safety Greet and help contractors and homeowners in the yard Train new yard employees on product, housekeeping, and safety Complete required inspections and forms for the Company s Fleet Maintenance Program Follow and help improve store safety practices; attend required safety meetings Grow product knowledge across residential, rural, industrial, and commercial building materials Help the General Manager manage training, labor hours, and yard reporting Perform other yard and warehouse duties assigned by the General Manager Please note: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of the activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee. What you need to have High school diploma or GED Two years as a yard manager or supervisor at a lumber company, or equivalent supervisory experience in a similar yard, warehouse, or building-materials setting Knowledge of building materials, related equipment, and construction product applications Ability to assign work, train, evaluate, and supervise yard personnel Reliable attendance and clear verbal and written communication Basic math, counting, and estimating skill Valid driver s license and an acceptable driving record Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing and walking most of the day, bending, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, working outdoors and in the warehouse in changing weather, and frequently lifting or moving 50 to 100 pounds Nice to have Forklift experience (training is available) Experience with bills of lading, receiving audits, fleet inspections, or delivery load building Prior experience in a lumberyard or home-improvement wholesale yard Pay and benefits Pay range: $17.00-$22.00 per hour Starting pay is based on job-related factors permitted by law, including relevant experience, education, skills, licenses, certifications, market conditions, and work location.

The work is in the lumberyard and warehouse. Weekend and holiday work is required based on store needs.
